The first thingyou probably think of when someone says to you, “I want to give you somefeedback” is “Oh no, here it comes.”

 

Most companiesdon’t train their managers how to do this effectively. Most people are terribleat giving feedback and are even less adept at receiving it. Yet this is a vitalskillset and mindset to master, especially when your success relies on othersdoing their job well. This skillset/ mindset is especially important forleaders, managers and coaches.

 

The Masterful Feedback Workshop is a full 1 day experience. It isdesigned for Coaches to upgrade their Direct Communication skills and forbusiness leaders, managers and their employee’s dramatically increase theimpact of a Feedback session.


They’ll learn shift feedback from an experience they dread and fear, toa highly desired means of optimizing performance. Learnings for the day include

  •       The truth about Feedback –what it is/ isn’t; why it’s done so badly and what you can do about it。

  •       The Context for MasterfulFeedback – sets feedback up to have optimal results·  

  •       Skillsets and Mindsets forMasterful Feedback – without these。

  •       The S.W.E.E.T feedback model– that is simple and easy to apply right away。

  •       Rejection – this powerfulemotion drives the feedback experience for both giver and receiver and needs tobe dealt with before Masterful Feedback can be given。

  •       Language Clues/ What to Do’sabout the feedback receiver’s reactions。

  •       Experiential learning –nothing is learned without real time practice and the day includes Exercises,Processes, and of course, practice, practice, practice.

How Masterful Feedback Was Born

(excerptedfrom an interview with Michael Stratford)


“Having coached rock bands in the beginning of my journey as a coach, Iwas familiar with the feedbackphenomenon and especially the kind of screeching it produced.


As I made a transition intoworking with executives, managers and their teams in Fortune 500 companies, Ifound that most people didn’t know howto make use of this crucially important mindset/skill set. In fact theydidn’t even have a simple enough definition that was clean, clear and neutral.


Most people either hated giving it or hated receiving it and often both andthey’d had plenty of bad experiences in either direction.


In addition, I was constantlyinteracting with people about how to take and give the feedback in their workenvironment as well as in their homes, and communities. When it comes down toit, it’s ALL feedback and no one canlive without it.


And so, as I helped people toaddress this pivotal experience, it became of laboratory of what worked and didn’t work. Now I have clarified the whole process so thatothers can not only have a better time around the notion of feedback, but theycan actually use the feedback as alever to “move the world”as Archimedes says.”
