Lifeline in Peril is a side quest in Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Lifeline in Peril Side Mission (Odd Job). It’s also known as The Mayor of Kalm’s Request. It requires you to assist the Mayor of Kalm with repairing a damaged mako pipeline.

Lifeline in Peril becomes available at the Kalm Community Noticeboard after completing the “Break in the Saddle” Main Objective where you learn to ride your chocobo.

Area: Kalm – Mako Tank (available from Kalm Community Noticeboard)
Quest Giver: The Mayor of Kalm
Requirement: Available after completing the “Break in the Saddle” Main Objective
Reward: Barret Relationship Strengthened, 10 Party EXP, Player EXP (scaled to your level), 3000 Gil (if you collect all the repair items)
Mission Info: The mako pipeline upon which Kalm and her people rely has sprung a leak, and we are in desperate need of a technician – or failing that, someone with a modicum of skill – to perform emergency repairs. The welfare of our residents hangs in the balance

Objectives:

Head to the Maintenance Warehouse
Gather Parts
Repair the Mako Pipeline
Report to the Mayor

Starting Location: Lifeline in Peril (The Mayor of Kalm’s Request)

You can accept the Odd Job from the Community Noticeboard in Kalm, or you can go directly to the quest giver by the Mako Tank.

Head to the Maintenance Warehouse

Head southwest from Kalm to find the Maintenance Warehouse.

Gather Parts

Around this area you will find Slabs of Rusted Sheet Metal and Corroded Nails to repair the pipeline. You will need at least 1 Sheet Metal and 2 Nails, but it’s best to collect 3 Sheet Metal and 5 Corroded Nail to get the best results. The 4 search locations will be marked on the world map by green icons. Search the marked scrap piles for parts, then return to Kyrie.
